Food Sensitivity Testing

Dr. Collard offers Mediator Release Testing, the leader in the field of diet-induced inflammation. In our office we only offer beneficial services that Dr. Collard knows to be of value. He is not a “salesman” and only wants the best at the best price for his patients. The MRT blood work will identify foods and food chemicals that are causing you inflammation and making you sick. With accurate information, you will be able to lower inflammation, allowing the body to heal and recover. You will then have the information to rebuild your gut health to improve food sensitivity symptoms and then moving forward to prevent flare-ups with the Leap eating plan.

My wife, for the past several years, has been not feeling well, with many different symptoms that we couldn’t figure out. She went to different doctors all leaving her more frustrated with their common diagnosis of depression and anxiety and wanted to put her on medication. She felt so frustrated because she knew those were symptoms of an underlying issue. Years went by with no solution. Eventually the symptoms got worse and she was diagnosed with Graves’ Disease.

We came across the MRT through a family member and it felt like it was worth a try. She has already tried elimination diets and none seemed to work. It seemed like she would figure out some foods that bothered her but it was often hit and miss. When she got her results back from the MRT testing it all made sense. There was no way she could have figured out those foods that she had sensitivity to without this test because some of her reactions were with preservatives and emulsifiers that are in so many foods without you knowing it. As she has applied this information and followed the Leap diet, her symptoms started to disappear. She is almost off all medication for her auto-immune disease. She is improving her gut health to make her inflammatory foods less sensitive for her and eventually would like to not be so sensitive to some of those foods. When I say it has been a life saver I mean it. I wish we would have know about this before she developed an auto-immune disorder.

I truly feel like many of our symptoms and ailments are because we are sensitive to certain foods that we eat and also due to the food manufactures and preservatives that are in our foods. “We are what we eat” and I believe that by modifying a few of those foods it can help us be healthier and have improved lifestyles.

It is very important to correctly identify your inflammatory foods and chemicals. How would you ever know to cut out polysorbate-80 and potasium nitrate-true story. On your first appointment with Dr. Collard, he will refer you out to a lab for a blood draw nearby. We currently use Any Lab Test in South Jordan. They will draw your blood and send it off to Oxford Biomedical Technologies in Flordia for testing. At your follow-up appointment in two weeks, Dr. Collard will go over your results. You will be given a chart of foods that have been tested, and they will be in three categories. Green are safe foods, Yellow are inflamatory foods and Red are very inflamatroy foods to stay away from.

“Food sensitivities are often dose-dependent, with symptom onset delayed by many hours, and there are usually many reactive foods, not just 1 or 2 as in food allergy” -Oxford Labs

The Mediator Release Test (MRT) does 2 extremely important things:

  1. It quantifies the degree of the inflammatory response to a wide range of foods and chemicals, identifying your “reactive” foods.
  2. It identifies your safest foods.

(*Note: MRT is designed to identify sensitivity reactions only. It is not intended to identify or diagnose food allergies or celiac disease. If you have either food allergies, celiac disease, lactose or fructose intolerance/malabsorption, additional steps need to be taken in your therapy. Make sure to discuss this with your healthcare practitioner.)

Now that we have identified your food sensitivities, we will provide you with a Leap diet plan focusing on your safest foods. The four week-by-week plan will start you out eating your least inflammatory foods. This will act as a reset and teach you all the things you should be eating. By following this week-by-week plan, your body will be able to lower inflammation giving you relief from your symptoms.

“Food sensitivities are the main cause of symptoms associated with a leaky gut. Food sensitivities create a vicious cycle in that they help maintain the reason for their development (the leaky gut) while being the direct cause of the various symptoms suffered. This vicious cycle can only end after carefully removing all sources of reactive foods and chemicals, which not only eliminates symptoms but also allows the gut to finally heal.” – Oxford Bio Lab

Rebuilding and repairing your gut health to lower your sensitivities is the goal and we will show you how, but it is up to you to do the work. Your gut health is probably what started all your problems to begin with. Food sensitivities, antibiotics, a high sugar or low fiber diet, and stress can all cause damage to your gut biome, causing leaky gut.

Following the Leap diet and staying away from your yellow and red foods will be the most important first step to rebuilding. The second step is building your good gut bacteria with probiotics and anti-fungal supplements.
